Work Day 1

Our first day of work is complete as I post. The weather was great...cloudy with a cool breeze and a little rain this afternoon. However, being close to the equator, many of us still sweat in what is considered "cool" weather here (70s)!

I spent both morning and afternoon helping with construction. They gave me wire cutters to twist wire to connect rebar together. What we are creating will be the structure of the addition to the Methodist School in Ahuachapan! We had about 20 kids in Bible School this morning and 25 this afternoon. More will likely come as the word gets out and the week goes on! The kids in VBS sang songs, read the story of creation, made a snake craft and played games.

This afternoon, some also stayed at the Mission Residence and sacked 98 bags of food. We will be delivering them through the week.

Resting before dinner in the common area, eating snacks and reflecting on our first day while listening to the rain come down is so peaceful and relaxing. However, since I am rooming with the preacher, she is challenging me to go take a shower. I guess I better take the hint! Just pray she doesn't keep me up to late as she is a night owl and I am up with the sun!!

To wrap up, I am grateful to be here for a second year and have been confirmed that this is where I needed to be this week. I look forward to seeing God at work. All of our team is doing well. Thanks to all for the prayers!
