Meet the Staff
Pastor: Rev. Amanda Gordon (Email Amanda)
Rev. Amanda was appointed to MMUMC in June 2011. Amanda's hometown is Pearl, MS where she graduated from Pearl High School in 1996. She received her bachelor's degree from Delta State University (Go Okra!) and her Master of Divinity degree from Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, MO. Amanda was ordained an Elder of the United Methodist Church at the 2010 Mississippi Annual Conference. She has served in various ministry settings since 1999.
Amanda is one-half of a clergy couple; while at Saint Paul, she met her husband, Adam, who is the Pastor of Pleasant Hill UMC in Olive Branch. Most of her family resides in the Pearl, MS area and Adam's family resides in Missouri.
Isaiah 43: 1-7 is Amanda's favorite Scripture because it reminds us that no matter what we go through in life, God is with us and our God, the Creator of all, considers us precious and loved. She finds Jesus' Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:1-7:29 to be the most challenging of the Scriptures for in this sermon we see just how clearly different God's ways are from the world's ways.
One of Amanda's favorite things to do is travel, whether it be for personal vacation, an educational opportunity, or a mission trip. Since her junior year of high school, she has been on numerous mission trips around the United States and has also been on mission trips to Mexico, Costa Rica, and El Salvador. She has been blessed with the opportunity to participate in a Wesleyan Pilgrimage to England and a Holy Land Tour.
Amanda is always open to meeting with individuals, families and groups for conversations, lunch, "coffee," etc. and enjoys the opportunity to spend time with the folks of Minor Memorial United Methodist Church.
